The Two New Hunters

Two friends took on big game hunting for the first time. They equip themselves and head to the woods for the first time, during deer hunting season. After a while, luck is clearly on their side as they spot a buck just standing there, staring at them. Eyes closed fearing the ‘bang’, shots go off and the deer is down.

Excited, they don’t know who got him but they had agreed to split the meat between them anyway. So they grabbed the deer by the hind legs and started the hard task of dragging it out of the woods. But they were struggling. It kept getting stuck, and the hind legs didn’t provide a good grip.

Another more experienced hunter bumped into them and smiled watching the two ‘rookies’ struggle pulling their deer. Eventually, he walked to them and said: “Why don’t you grab your deer by the antlers instead? This way, the heaviest part, the upper body, will be up a bit and you’ll have a better grip.

That made a lot of sense so they thanked the hunter and started pulling. After about half an hour of pulling the dead deer, they were getting tired.

It’s true that it’s better this way. But there’s just one problem… the more we go, the farther away from the truck we are…

Moral of the story: When choosing the easier way in life, make sure that you’re not getting yourself in more trouble.
