Champagne Satin and Cold Revenge

Samantha was counting down the days until her daughter Melissa’s wedding. The venue was booked, the flowers chosen, and her “mother-of-the-bride” dress hung in the closet looking like it had been sewn by angels. It was the kind of dress that made you stand a little taller, smile a little wider, and hope someone might just ask where you got it.

Then came the curveball. Melissa called, sounding as though she had just discovered her hair was on fire. Her father’s much-younger second wife, Tina, had been shopping and of all the dresses in all the boutiques, had bought the exact same one.

Melissa pleaded, “Mom, can you please return yours? I can’t have you and Tina in the same dress on my wedding day. People will talk.

Samantha asked gently, “Did you ask Tina to change hers?

Oh, I did,” Melissa sighed. “But she told me, ‘Absolutely not. I look stunning in this dress, and I’m wearing it.’

Samantha just smiled, a little too calmly. “Don’t worry, honey. I’ll find another one. It’s your special day, and I want it to be perfect.

A week later, Melissa and Samantha found an even lovelier gown. Soft champagne tones, intricate beadwork, the kind of thing that whispered elegance instead of shouting for attention.

Over lunch the day before the wedding, Melissa looked across the table and asked her mom, “So… have you returned the first dress yet? You’ll never wear it now.

That’s when Samantha leaned in, a twinkle in her eye. “Oh, I’ll wear it,” she said, taking a slow sip of her coffee. “In fact, I’ve decided it’ll be perfect for tonight’s rehearsal dinner.

Melissa almost choked on her salad.

Moral of the story:
A loving mother will move mountains for her child, but she also knows that the sweetest revenge is served with a smile, a steady gaze, and impeccable timing. Never underestimate a woman who can be both nurturing and strategic. Especially if she’s holding the receipt.

In essence, don’t be a prick or life will find a way to poke you back… and you likely won’t like it.
