Grumpa’s Wisdom – The Country Way

With age, often comes wisdom. Some of it is serious, some of it is factual. But a lot of it is funny too. But funny doesnโ€™t mean itโ€™s less true. The people who progress the quickest in life are those who not only learn from their own experience, but those who take advantage of the experience of others around them. And what better source of learning than someone who has lived longer and has experienced moreโ€ฆ and in other settings?

Here are some good olโ€™ wisdom tips from an old Country man.

๐Ÿ”˜ Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong.

๐Ÿ”˜ Keep skunks, bankers, and politicians at a distance.

๐Ÿ”˜ Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.

๐Ÿ”˜ A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor.

๐Ÿ”˜ Words that soak into your ears are whispered, not yelled.

๐Ÿ”˜ The best sermons are lived, not preached.

๐Ÿ”˜ If you donโ€™t take the time to do it right, youโ€™ll find the time to do it twice.

๐Ÿ”˜ Donโ€™t corner something that is meaner than you.

๐Ÿ”˜ Donโ€™t pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, heโ€™ll just kill you.

๐Ÿ”˜ It donโ€™t take a very big person to carry a grudge.

๐Ÿ”˜ You cannot unsay a cruel word.

๐Ÿ”˜ Every path has a few puddles.

๐Ÿ”˜ When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.

๐Ÿ”˜ Donโ€™t be banging your shin on a stool thatโ€™s not in the way.

๐Ÿ”˜ Borrowing trouble from the future doesnโ€™t deplete the supply.

๐Ÿ”˜ Most of the stuff people worry about ainโ€™t never gonna happen anyway.

๐Ÿ”˜ Donโ€™t judge folks by their relatives.

๐Ÿ”˜ Silence is sometimes the best answer.

๐Ÿ”˜ Donโ€˜t interfere with something that is not bothering you.

๐Ÿ”˜ Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.

๐Ÿ”˜ If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging.

๐Ÿ”˜ Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.

๐Ÿ”˜ The biggest troublemaker youโ€™ll ever have to deal with watches you from the mirror every morning.

๐Ÿ”˜ Always drink upstream from the herd.

๐Ÿ”˜ Good judgment comes from experience, and most of that comes from bad judgment.

๐Ÿ”˜ Letting the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than putting it back in.

๐Ÿ”˜ If you get to thinking youโ€™re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody elseโ€™s dog around.

๐Ÿ”˜ Live a good, honourable life. Then when you get older and think back, youโ€™ll enjoy it a second time.

๐Ÿ”˜ Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.

๐Ÿ”˜ Most times, it just gets down to common sense.
