True Canadian Versus Snowflake

Ah Canada and snowflakes. They go hand in hand, don’t they? If you ask some Americans, we live in igloos and our dogs pull our sleighs, our favourite and most common method of transportation. For the longest time, the word snowflake was only referred to this crystal-like, microscopic frozen rain drop, occurring when the temperatures fall below the freezing levels, mostly in winter time.

Today, the definition has expanded. You can read more about the reasons and origins on Merriam-Webster, but here’s what it is, in short: “Snowflake” is a derogatory slang term for a person, implying that they have an inflated sense of uniqueness, an unwarranted sense of entitlement, or are overly-emotional, easily offended, and unable to deal with opposing opinions. They can be found everywhere on the internet and will go to deep lengths to find so-called “experts” who will agree with their off-the-wall beliefs and take that for “the truth”.

While I have learned to appreciate winter and what the love of my life calls “cool white sand”, this old soul has no time for the other type of snowflakes… and I make no excuses for it. I’ve lived through too much, have experienced too much in my life, to bend over for a generation of entitled, self-gratifying people who only think of themselves without any consideration for others. You see, political correctness is not for me. That likely makes me a bad person, outdated and out of touch with today’s society. But guess what? I’m perfectly fine with that. You see, sometimes, the “M” in “Masses” is… silent.

Still, we can laugh a bit about it, can’t we? At the risk – or high probability – to offend a few, here’s the difference between true Canadians and Snowflakes.

🍁 If a true Canadian doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one.
❄️ If a Snowflake doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

🍁 If a true Canadian is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat.
❄️ A Snowflake wants all meat products banned for everyone or to create non-meat lookalikes.

🍁 If a true Canadian is down and out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
❄️ If a Snowflake is down and out, he wonders who is going to take care of him.

🍁 If a true Canadian doesn’t like a show host, he switches channels.
❄️ A Snowflake demands that those they don’t like be fired.

🍁 If a true Canadian is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to Church.
❄️ If a Snowflake is non-believer, he wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

🍁 If a true Canadian doesn’t like hunting or fishing, he doesn’t hunt or fish.
❄️ A Snowflake will want all hunting banned and create non hunting and fishing areas.

🍁 If a true Canadian trips and falls, he gets up, look at what tripped him and moves on.
❄️ A Snowflake will look for a way to make a few bucks by searching for someone to sue.

🍁 If a true Canadian is offended, he tells the culprit and moves on.
❄️ A Snowflake participates in rallies and demands that everyone around changes.

🍁 If a true Canadian leads the Country or a Corporation, he stands up for common sense.
❄️ A Snowflake will try hiding and removing anything and everything that may offend someone.

🍁 If a true Canadian craps his pants, he will go home, clean up and change.
❄️ A Snowflake will look around for someone to blame for the smell.

🍁 If a true Canadian loses at something, he will do so with dignity.
❄️ A Snowflake will find excuses for it and cry to get a participation trophy.

🍁 If a true Canadian reads this, he will pass it on so his friends can have a good laugh.
❄️ A Snowflake will be… “offended” and look for excuses.

Unfortunately, they have yet to invent a snowblower to get rid of those Snowflakes…
