The Horse Raffle

Tommy, a young fellow, purchased a horse from a farmer for $250, with the agreement that the farmer would deliver the horse the next day. However, the farmer arrived at Tommy’s place the following day with unfortunate news, “Sorry, son, but the horse passed away.”

Undeterred, Tommy calmly responded, “No worries, just refund my money.”

Regrettably, the farmer explained, “I can’t do that; I’ve already spent the cash.”

In a surprising turn, Tommy then suggested, “Alright, bring me the deceased horse.”

Perplexed, the farmer inquired, “Why on earth? What do you plan to do with it?”

Tommy grinned and said, “I’m going to raffle it off.”

Amused, the farmer scoffed, “You can’t raffle off a dead horse! Who would buy a ticket?”

Tommy confidently asserted, “Oh, I can, just watch. I won’t disclose that the horse is no longer among the living.”

A month later, the farmer encountered Tommy once more, curious about the outcome. He asked, “So, did you manage to raffle off that dead horse?”

Tommy proudly replied, “Absolutely! Sold 500 tickets at $5 each.”

Perplexed, the farmer questioned, “Did anyone complain?”

Tommy chuckled, “Just the guy who won. I promptly gave him his $5 back.”

Moral of the story:

Creativity and resilience can turn any setback into success. Think outside the box and never give up!
