Late one moonless night, a burglar crept silently into a dimly lit house. The air was still, the shadows deep, and the only sound was the faint rustle of his clothes as he moved stealthily from room to room. Just as he reached for a silver candlestick on a polished oak table, a voice, clear and calm, pierced the silence:

“Jesus is watching you.”

The burglar froze, his heart pounding in his chest. He spun around, eyes wide, searching for the source of the voice, but saw only darkness. With a shake of his head, he dismissed the voice as a figment of his imagination and continued his heist.

As he tiptoed down the hallway, the voice echoed again, this time with a hint of amusement:

“Jesus is watching you.”

Determined to find the source, the burglar followed the sound until he spotted a glimmer of light in a shadowy corner. There, perched inside a brass cage, was a vibrant parrot, its eyes gleaming with mischief.

“Was it you?” the burglar whispered, his voice trembling. “Were you the one warning me?”

The parrot bobbed its head, feathers ruffling with pride. “Yes,” it squawked.

Relieved but curious, the burglar leaned closer and asked, “What’s your name, clever bird?”

“Clarence,” the parrot replied with a flourish.

The burglar chuckled softly, the tension easing from his shoulders. “Clarence? That’s a silly name for a parrot. Who on earth would name you Clarence?”

The parrot tilted its head, a sly smile in its eyes. “The same person who named the rottweiler Jesus.”

Moral of the story: Sometimes, warnings come from unexpected sources, and those who overlook them may find themselves facing consequences they never anticipated. Always pay attention to the signs, no matter how trivial they may seem, for they might save you from a greater danger.
