Grandpa’s Backup Plan

A older man woke up one night and noticed some prowlers sneaking around his backyard storage shed. Concerned for his belongings and his wife’s safety – and his own – he quickly called 911 and reported the suspicious activity, giving his address and explaining that it looked like someone was trying to break in.

The dispatcher asked, “Are they inside your home?

He replied, “No, just out back in the shed.

The dispatcher then told him, “Sorry, we don’t have any units available right now.

He calmly thanked her, hung up, waited about 30 seconds, and then called 911 again.

I just called about prowlers in my shed,” he said. “You don’t need to send anyone now—I went ahead and shot them.

Within minutes, sirens lit up the street. Three police cars, an ambulance, and even a fire truck pulled up. Officers rushed into the backyard and caught the suspects in the act.

One officer turned to the homeowner and said, “I thought you said you shot them?

The man replied, “And I thought you said no one was available!

Moral of the story:

Don’t mess with older people. They’ve lived long enough to know how the system works!
