Occupational Hazards of Her Heart

They say love is blind, but sometimes it feels like it just doesn’t bother to read the résumé. Careers have a funny way of sneaking into relationships. After all, how could anyone be surprised when a magician pulls a disappearing act or when a barber cuts things short? So let’s have a little fun with the idea of falling in love across the trades and professions. Spoiler: these romances don’t usually end with flowers and sunsets, more like punchlines and paperwork.

  40. She fell in love with a writer and he left her with nothing but drafts.

And finally…

If you’re wondering what the lesson is, it’s simple: sometimes careers sneak into our relationships in ways that only hindsight (or a bad pun) can explain. The truth is, love isn’t about résumés, salaries, or skillsets, it’s about finding the one person who won’t leave you feeling cut, hooked, nailed, shocked, or stitched. Unless, of course, that’s your thing… in which case, may I suggest falling for a chiropractor, because at least they’ll keep you aligned.
